This is the weekend that people who fish look forward to for months - hell, John (son in law) had the cabin reserved a year ago.
Since John obviously isn't out on the flowage Deb and I came up and I decided to post some pics.
I was shocked when we got here this weekend - to put it all in perspective this was the view from our porch two weeks ago.
The Montreal River which feeds the Gile Flowage which is maybe a 100 yards from our place. The river is crazy high.
Not much snow left - how did it go so fast? No wonder the roads are pure crap
The flowage near the inlet, can't really see it from the pic but there is ice not far out
A loon near the boat launch 1 mile north of our cabin - the following pics are all from the boat launch area
Can we get out tomorrow?
The actual launch

Deb Art
Deb has undertaken making unique roman shades for the loft. It is theme based - 4 windows and 4 seasons, coincidence? I think not. She has the summer shade done - it really looks great. The other 3 should be done in 2 weeks. Note the awesome growler shelf:)
The bed
Well, it's closer to being done. The door knobs are waiting on Mexico. We will be looking for Mexican Talvera knobs. I'm still a bit bummed by the difference in the appearance of the wood on the different phases.
The Drawer side:
I still have the drawer fronts to make - it should be done in 2 weeks. As in the doors, the drawer pulls are waiting on Mexico - talvera pulls. The drawer fronts will be solid cherry.
The drawers have a unique design. As you pull them out the drawer does not tip down and can't be pulled out all the way. I couldn't see paying good money for drawer slides when I can do just as well.

Finally a post:)
The foot of the bed is done and installed.
The wood (side panels and bed) are ash but look very different. Does 18 months of exposure to the sun make the poly change colors? Next up is the 'rails' that will go around the bed and then the doors for the cubby's. Then I will attack the head of the bed and the drawers on the other side.

Fireplace
Here is the latest pic of the fireplace. I added 2 feet this weekend because I had too much smoke out the front.
These tiles were bought in Mercer at the Odonta Art Gallery.

These pictures were taken yesterday (20 July).
It has been a slow process.
The supports under the 'roof' will come out in the next week. I am waiting 3 weeks (or longer)to remove them. I don't want any cracking. After that the fire brick and chimney go in and we can try it out - as I continue laying stone.
The bags in the fireplace are lupine seed pods that I harvested from the roadside. My dilemma now is have I harvested wild lupine or domesticated lupine gone wild - does it matter?
