dust collectin

My latest obsession is the dust in my workshop. I coughed so damn much that something had to give. This past weekend I made a small down draft sanding table and modified a 20" by 20" box fan to filter air with a furnace filter. Today I made a 'cyclone' dust and particle 'extractor'. Check out the pics on the page. Its very effective although the shop vac loses some 'umpf' with the added resistance. I think I will make a large down draft table and buy a real dust collector. I hate coughing.

Updates (7 April 2010)

1) Deb went to the bank and started the paperwork. We are waiting on on the contractor (he missed a sheet of the plans when they were mailed to us). After that its a matter of looking at the appraisal vs cost to see if it flies.
2) Our sinks came in. Will post pictures after I cut the hole in the counter top. They are beautiful and once the hole is cut I will finish the counter top.
3) I glued up the side panels for the new vanity (loft bathroom) last night and posted pictures of the first panel being glued up. I set up a 'clamping system' to make it easy for one person to do. It is probably overkill but the first clamp glued up really nice. The second panel is still under clamps as I went to bed. The only real problem that I have is when I run the boards through the router. I can't seem to get the boards to clamp flat. Each board is offset my maybe .01" - .03". It's frustrating as I then have to sand so damn much. I really need to get a planer.
