What the hay?

We bought native grass and wild flower seed mix and planted it. It was then covered with straw. As native species it will germinate in the spring. Imagine our surprise when we got up there this past weekend when we had grass growing. Apparently in the straw there was seeds of some sort of grass. I am not happy about it on one level but ecstatic on another - it will help control erosion.

Landscaping

It was a busy Labor Day weekend. We had 18 yards of topsoil and 6 yards of sand. Deb and Angie went (with the kids) to get patio block Saturday morning while John and I got ready to lay the block. While we were getting ready for the patio Mike was moving stone and rock. It took most of the day to get the patio done. Actually I finished just before night. We got most of the landscaping done but ran out of seed.
